Junction 17 Defensive Driver Training Ltd has teamed up with Licence Check to launch a new Level Three driving licence checking qualification

Junction 17 Defensive Driver Training Ltd has teamed up with Licence Check to launch a new Level Three driving licence checking qualification.

This is a professional qualification delivered through ProQual, regulated by Ofqual and is designed for fleet, administration staff and transport managers who are involved in the process of overseeing, or supervising drivers.

The qualification will be awarded to those who complete a distance-learning course, covering a wide variety of practical topics to ensure that successfully candidates complete the course, understand the different categories, entitlements and regulations surrounding the licensing of drivers and the processes for checking a licence.

The course itself will be managed and delivered electronically and candidates will have access to learning resources and materials within the course portal, allowing them to fit the course and assessment around their own work and lifestyle commitments.

Nominally the total course time is estimated to be six hours, allowing the candidates to collect evidence which is undertaken in their workplace as part of the usual role through a process of continuous assessment.

As the course is a professionally recognised qualification, it will count towards an employee’s continuous vocational development and initiatives such as Investors in People on the part of employers.

Peter Coppenhall, Company Director of Junction 17 Defensive Driver Training Ltd comments; “We are very excited to be offering this new qualification. Each candidate will be fully resourced and have the full support from their allocated Assessor and centre administration team. We are offering an optional resource workbook to assist candidates through the award, plus a half day training course for new candidates”

Richard Brown, Managing Director of Licence Check Ltd comments: “We are delighted to be working with Junction 17 Defensive Driver Training Ltd to launch this new qualification.   At the end of the course, successful candidates will have a good grasp of the reasons why they should check the driver’s licence.  For example, they will know what to look for in a genuine document; understand what the information shown on the licence means; will be able to carry out a check on this and understand the wider implications in terms of risk for the business.

“There will be a variety of different types of testing within the interactive course that require candidates to reference external sources and course materials, to demonstrate understanding and practical application.  Candidates will be asked to apply and show understanding of the course content.

“The qualification will equip managers and administrators with the knowledge and skills to confidently and competently tackle what should be the absolute and fundamental first check for anyone employing, or allowing people, to drive on behalf of a business.”
